Products Set New Bar for Performance, Density and Value for the Software-Defined Data Center
SC16 ARM’s Booth # 4033
SC16, SALT LAKE CITY, November 15, 2016 – Storage and server innovator SoftIron today unveiled the first products in its game-changing HyperDrive product range. HyperDrive is set to become the company’s flagship product brand and is being shown for the first time this week at the SC16 highperformance computing conference and tradeshow taking place in Salt Lake City. Displayed in industry-leader ARM’s booth # 4033, this 64-bit ARM-based product family is poised to set new standards for performance, density, and cost-effectiveness for software-defined storage.
“We’re thrilled to show our HyperDrive products in conjunction with leaders like ARM and AMD at this year’s SC16,” said Tim Massey, SoftIron’s President. “Today’s data centers require wire speed throughput and tremendous density from storage vendors. We know that our HyperDrive portfolio more than meets these criteria.”
Today’s modern data center requires software-defined storage with these four key characteristics:
Performance – Data throughput in software-defined storage solutions needs to be frictionless, delivering wire speed performance to maximize utilization of the network infrastructure.
Density – Growth in volumes of data is outpacing growth in physical space and available power in the data center. New solutions need to be dense enough to utilize the physical space at hand and within existing power budgets.
Agility – It must be possible to integrate new services quickly and easily with a common data pool.
Software-defined storage must be agile enough to enable rapid scale-out and flexible geographic resiliency.
Cost-effectiveness – Budget is always a concern, particularly when moving to completely new architectures. Growth in data volumes is outstripping growth in storage budgets so a step-change in value for money is required.
SoftIron’s HyperDrive series meets all these requirements easily and sets a remarkable new standard for the industry.
“With today’s unprecedented growth of data, supporting the delivery of storage services to millions of end users is becoming increasingly costly and complex,” said Casey Axe, senior marketing director of server program, ARM. “SoftIron’s new HyperDrive storage products show the benefits of optimized for-ARM solutions for modern software-defined, heterogeneous data centers.”
“SoftIron has been a key partner for us in pursuing the software-designed storage market with our AMD Opteron A1100 series,” said Dan Bounds, Senior Director, AMD Data Center Products. “We are excited to work with SoftIron moving forward as they establish their footprint within this dynamic and burgeoning market segment.”
Orders can be placed for the HyperDrive 4000 and 5000 products now, with deliveries scheduled for the first quarter of 2017. Interested parties should contact SoftIron, at sales@softiron.com, to learn more or arrange a meeting with the company at SC16.
