London, UK – (November 8, 2021) – SoftIron Ltd., the leader in purpose-built and performance-optimized data center solutions, is announcing that CRN®, a brand of The Channel Company, has named SoftIron as a finalist for the 2021 CRN Tech Innovator Awards. SoftIron is being recognized for its HyperDrive™ Performance+ family of storage appliances in the Enterprise category. This annual award program showcases innovative vendors in the IT channel across 47 different technology categories, in key areas ranging from cloud to storage to networking to security. To determine the winners, a panel of CRN editors reviewed hundreds of vendor products using multiple criteria, including key capabilities, uniqueness, technological ingenuity and ability to address customer and partner needs.

“The world is changing quickly and enterprises are starting to realize they need a new way of evaluating the data infrastructure supporting their mission-critical operations,” said Phil Straw, CEO of SoftIron. “While almost nobody could have predicted current events as they’ve played out, SoftIron saw the underlying challenges ahead when it was founded in 2012, recognizing that supply chain security issues, sovereign resilience, as well as new approaches to energy efficiency were required for a world where scale – both in the data center and at the edge – are required. With HyperDrive Performance+, SoftIron is offering a highly sophisticated storage appliance that reduces power requirement and TCO while delivering performance and scalability that’s free of the vendor lock-in challenges associated with proprietary solutions. We’re thankful that CRN is recognizing our efforts and look forward to delivering more head-turning solutions to our customers.”

“CRN’s annual Tech Innovator Awards acknowledge technology vendors that display their ongoing commitment to empowering and enabling end-users, while also promoting continuous business growth for solution providers, with cutting-edge, purpose-built products and services,” said Blaine Raddon, CEO of The Channel Company. “I’d like to personally congratulate each and every one of this year’s CRN Tech Innovator Award winners. We are proud to recognize these best-in-class vendors that are driving transformation and innovation in the IT space.”

With the HyperDrive Performance+ family (Models HD61026 and HD61052), SoftIron is targeting edge computing deployments, where high-performance, low latency operation is needed in situations where space, power, and cooling are challenges. The new appliances are ideal in use cases where powerful and efficient compact clusters are desired in order to ingest data as quickly and cost-effectively as possible. These include applications such as media and entertainment content delivery, CGI rendering, tier one research computing, fintech applications, and AI training. HyperDrive Performance+ appliances consume less than 250W of power each and provide line-rate throughput with 25GbE network connectivity, providing an ideal balance of performance and power for edge and remote workloads. Used in conjunction with other members of the HyperDrive family, and capitalizing on the automatic tiering capabilities of Ceph, Performance+ appliances are also an ideal solution in larger storage infrastructures for the provision of a high performance caching tier over less powerful, but more cost-effective spinning disk-based deployments.

The SoftIron HyperDrive family of products are available for POC and purchase. SoftIron offers both traditional purchasing (CAPEX) and as-a-Service (OPEX) options. For more information, visit SoftIron’s HyperDrive Storage page.
